How Does Invisalign Work?
Have you been thinking about orthodontic treatment to correct crooked or misaligned teeth? You might be looking for a provider who offers treatment with Invisalign in Kirkland, WA.
Invisalign May Work For You
Dr. Jen Kim of Jen Kim Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is proud to offer Invisalign treatment to our patients and happy to answer your questions regarding this innovative new orthodontic option.
Unlike bracket-and-wire braces, Invisalign uses clear, plastic aligners to gently nudge your teeth into the proper position.
Your Invisalign Treatment Plan
Your entire treatment is planned out from the start, and Dr. Kim will let you know exactly what to expect. The data, measurements, and treatment plan will be sent to the lab that will be crafting your custom Invisalign aligners. When the aligners return from the lab, Dr. Kim will check them over and give you instructions on how to use them.
You’ll wear each aligner for about two weeks before switching to the next one in the series (be sure to follow Dr. Kim’s instructions). When you put in a new aligner, it will feel slightly “off.” This is because the steady pressure from the aligner will help guide your teeth in short movements. By the time you are ready to switch to a new aligner, the current aligner will start to feel like it fits perfectly.
The Benefits of Invisalign
What’s exciting about this is that you’ll actually be able to see the progress as it occurs, bit by bit. Plus, since the aligners are translucent and virtually invisible when they are in place, you are the only one who needs to know that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment.
Unlike with braces, you won’t need to return to the office frequently for “tightening” appointments, a feature many of our patients appreciate! This will instead be accomplished by switching to the next aligner when instructed by Dr. Kim. Of course, Dr. Kim will want you to check in with periodically so that she can make sure that treatment is proceeding as scheduled.
We’d love to tell you more about Invisalign and determine whether it’s a good treatment option for you. Contact our Kirkland, WA dental office today to schedule your evaluation and consultation with Dr. Jen Kim!
