Taking Care of Baby Teeth is Necessary for Adult Oral Health
Kids have different needs than adults when it comes to addressing their oral care because their mouths are constantly changing. Even though children will lose their baby teeth when their permanent teeth come in, taking care of baby teeth is essential for protecting their future oral health.
Most of the pediatric services we provide have to do with prevention. Regular examinations and cleanings will ensure that we can spot potential problems while they are still small. Our hygienists are accustomed to working with children, and they will do all they can to ensure their comfort while they gently clean teeth.
Preventative Treatments for Your Child
At some point, we will probably talk to you about preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants for your child. Although Kirkland does have fluoridated water, some kids drink mostly bottled or filtered water, so he or she not be getting enough of this mineral to protect their teeth.
When permanent molars come in, we may recommend sealants to protect them against decay. Sealants fill in the deep grooves of molars and prevent food particles from settling there and decay developing.
We will also take the time to talk to you about good oral care for your children at home and make sure you and your kids understand proper brushing and flossing techniques.
